Howard Kersey, 82

Funeral services for Howard Kersey, 82, will be Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Swainsboro with the Dr. Robert Blankenship and Rev. Bill Thompson officiating. Interment will be at Eastbrook Cemetery & Mausoleum. He died Monday, May 5, 2008 after an extended illness.

Mr. Kersey was a native of Swainsboro, a retired master carpenter and was a dedicated employee of Peebles Curry Durden and Superintendent of Eastbrook Cemetery & Mausoleum for 20 years. He served his country during WWII with the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Lake Luck Civic Club. Mr. Kersey was preceded in death by his daughter Denise Roberts.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtice Daniels Kersey of Swainsboro; one daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Sammy Page of Warner Robins, Ga.; one son, Jerry Howard Kersey of Swainsboro and dedicated daughter-in-law and special care giver, Cindy Kersey also of Swainsboro; one sister, Cuba Rowland of New Ellenton, SC; seven grandchildren, Sammy Howard Page, Brian Adam Page, Marine Corporal Jerry Chase Kersey, Cody Austin Kersey, Blake Roberts, Bradley Roberts, and Heather Roberts.

Three Great-Grandchildren: Brittney Page, Logan Page, and Caden Page.

Pallbearers are grandsons and Son-In-Law: Sammy Howard Page, Sammy Page, Brian Adam Page, Corporal Jerry Chase Kersey, Cody Austin Kersey, Blake Roberts and Bradley Roberts. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Lake Luck Civic Club.
