National Nanotechnology Manufacturing Center hosts VIP Tour

VIP DELEGATES LISTEN AS DR. LEWIS SPEAKS
The National Nanotechnology Manufacturing Center in Swainsboro hosted a segment of the 22nd International VIP Tour on Thursday, April 24, 2008. Welcomes and introductions were given by Andy Riley, President of the Swainsboro/Emanuel County Joint Development Authority and member of the board of directors of NNMC. Tracy Becker, Operations Manager for NNMC, showed a brief presentation that explained the field of nanotechnology and its many uses, as well as the functions of the National Nanotechnology Manufacturing Center in Swainsboro.

The VIP Delegates then moved from the small upstairs classroom to the Center itself, where Dr. Diane Lewis, Chair and founder of the Center, discussed some of the Center's equipment and operations. There were posters and signs throughout the Center explaining machinery and its functions for the VIP Delegates to examine, and a poster of the flags of the world for them to sign so that the Center can keep track of how diverse their visitors are. Following Dr. Lewis's presentation, Barbara Stafford, the Executive Director for the NNMC, held a brief question and answer session and made closing remarks before the VIP Delegates departed to the next stop on their tour.
