Thompson rolls into victory lane at Swainsboro Raceway

As the moon lit the sky, 106 racecars lined the pits at Swainsboro Raceway Saturday night. After the heat races, the first feature event to roll onto the track was the R & R Electrical Late Model division. With 17 cars starting the event, the green flag waived as Henry Carter came around to lead lap one. After only four laps, Terry Lumley brought his Cabinets By Design ride to the front from the sixth position.

Just after the half-way point Billy Godowns, Jr passed Carter to take over the second position. As the checkered flag fell it was Terry Lumley once again driving into Victory Lane.

Billy Godowns, Jr picked up another good finish in second, Henry Carter third, Marc Collins fourth, and Robert Diekemper fifth.

In the Love's Seafood Mini Stock division, the nearly full moon began to show. Joey Schoen rolled out front to lead lap one.

With an extremely strong car Schoen began an attempt to pick up his first feature win of the season, Jamey Coker slid into second and Terry Cox third. After only two laps, Cox made his way to the second position. After weeks of bad luck could Cox finally get a break as he began working on the leader of Schoen. Sneaking his way through the pack from the sixth position, Timmy Thompson took over third.

Unfortunately for Cox, with only two laps to the finish he once again would have to pit. A caution bunched the group back together and gave Thompson opportunity for improvement. Timmy Thompson took over the lead and Schoen fell into the second position. Driving into Victory Lane for the first time in the Mini Stock division, Timmy Thompson picked up the win. After have an outstanding run, Joey Schoen picked up second, Tommy Hadden third, Brad McKenzie fourth, and Jamey Coker fifth.

Up next in the Daniel Chevrolet Pure Stock division, Kary Alexander took the lead with Dwaye Hart falling into second. With Alexander safely out front, the battle for second became intense. After three laps, Jason Floyd took over second but couldn't gain any ground from continuing to hold off Hart in third. Two laps later, Hart regained second. Taking the white flag, Kary Alexander drove into Victory Lane for the first time this season. Winning the battle for second on the final lap was Jason Floyd; Dwayne Hart continued his top five runs by picking up third and moving into the points lead. Fourth place was Shannon Scott and fifth Kyle Johnson.

Starting inside pole for the Sunoco Super Street division, Robert Diekemper took the lead with Garrett Thigpen in second and John Bratcher third. Lap three moving into third Jimmy Sharpe, Jr spun going into turn two and having to pit ending his night of racing action. One lap to go brought out fire amongst several drivers as several cautions sent third place Willis McKenzie to the pits with a flat and fourth place Shawn Snellings to the pits with several others. Taking the checkered in his first appearance in the Super Street division was Robert Diekemper. Picking up one of his best finishes at Swainsboro was Mike Archer in the second position, Ken Ricks third, Richard McGowan fourth, and Frank Williams fifth.

Ending the night in the Driggers Concrete Road Warrior division Dustin Wilson drove away with the lead and Trey Carter rolled in second. After two laps, Lance Floyd was making his way to the front taking over the second position. Next lap, Jared Peebles took over second.

One lap to go coming off turn two the leader Dustin Wilson lost a tire bringing out the caution flag. With one lap to go, several caution flags waived changing the entire field positions.

Taking over the lead was the #17 of Jared Peebles and second was #17 Terry Strange. Once again, the final lap to the checkered was a battle between #17's.

Coming off turn four, Strange didn't quiet have the power to overcome Jared Peebles. Peebles to the checkered, Strange picked up second, John Fleming grabbed his best finish in third, Blake Smith fourth and took over the points lead, fifth Trey Carter.
