Letters To The Editor Dear Editor, Hello my name is Emily Johnson and I am 9 years old. If you are the person that threw 11 newborn puppies in the trash can on Highway 56, you should be ashamed of yourself. You killed 9 of them if you didn't know. We brought the 2 that were alive home and we are taking care of them. There is a boy and a girl that were alive. We think the boy has a broken leg. We have no idea what type of dogs they are. We do not think they are going to make it. It is hard to believe that someone would do that to such little puppies! Animals are not just here to poop, sleep, and eat. They are here to love! When you have no one to talk to, you can talk to them. They help us. Like if you were blind, they would help you get around, so you see what you did was wrong!!!!! Please look into your heart and promise yourself and the animals that you will never, ever do this again. Dear Editor, Many times during each and every day we all have defining moments when something either happens or is said that puts our day or life into proper perspective. My son Brice has cerebral palsy and thank goodness he doesn't use it as a crutch. He is playing baseball in Macon on Saturday mornings in a league called the Miracle Baseball League. It was formed to give kids ages 7-17 an opportunity to play baseball. Since there are not any opportunities for children with disabilities in Emanuel county, Brice now has a chance to be like any other child his age. While I was helping him get his uniform on Saturday morning, we discussed all the things that might happen during his first experience with the Miracle League. During our conversation he stated that some of his peers said the Miracle League would not be competitive enough for them. Brice in his 11-yearold wisdom told me that all he wanted was to be on a team, wear a uniform and put a bat in his hand. While holding back tears and continuing to dress him, I thought what a simple request from a child who physically wants to be like everyone else. We all have needs and request in life with some being simple and some not. I was given an opportunity to county my blessings because of the simple words of an 11-yearold child. I am sad because of his disability, but blessed that he's my son. Dear Editor: On Saturday morning, April 12, the Twin City Lions collected money to aid the blind and sight impaired. We wish to thank all those who so generously contributed to this worthy cause. We would like to commend the good people of Twin City and all others who demonstrated their benevolent concern. Every cent contributed will go directly to the Georgia Lions Lighthouse. We thank you very much.
