Locals compete in 4-H State Sporting Clays Invitational Match
BY MICHAEL HENRY
Recently the annual 4-H State Sporting Clays Invitational Match was held in Forsyth, Georgia. The event was held at the Meadows National Gun Club, which has held both the U.S. Open and Triple Classic World Championship for the sporting clays. Locals competing in the event were high school students: John Buxton, Joseph Johnson, Justin Coleman and Michael Henry. The competition consisted of 100 sporting clays targets. Sporting clays isn't your normal clay target game. Extremely difficult targets can come from anywhere and everywhere. The competition was tight, but locals Buxton and Henry came out tied once again for first place. The two young men, having tied many times before, jokingly asked to "play rock paper scissors" to determine a winner. Either way Emanuel County was going to have first and second place. A shoot-off was to be held on the competition's most difficult stand. After a round of shooting these extremely difficult targets Henry came out on top with first place with Buxton closely following with second.
