Phillip Samuel "Phil" Jones, 67

Funeral for Phillip Samuel "Phil" Jones, 67, was held Tuesday, April 1st at 2:00 p.m. at Sardis Primitive Baptist Church with elder Lindy Webb officiating. Interment followed at Sardis Cemetery. He died Saturday, March 29 at Emanuel Medical Center.

Mr. Jones was born in Meeks the son of the late Harley and Ida Jones. He was a member of Sardis Primitive Baptist Church. Mr. Jones was a plumber, and before retirement had owned and operated an underground utility business. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Mr. Jones was a volunteer fireman for Emanuel County. He was past president of the Lions Club and a member of the coon hunting association. Mr. Jones raised and trained coon dogs. He was an avid race car fan.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife Dot Riner Jones; a grandson, Phillip Samuel Jones III; brothers Dr. Harley Kemp Jones and John Jones and sister Marie Amerson.

Pallbearers were Walter Nasworthy, Wayne Scott, Greg Newsome, Jerry Odom, Danny Wayne Faircloth and Piney Hamilton. Honorary Pallbearers were Jason Jones, Beau Jones, Drew Jones, Benjie Donaldson, Tim Cumbee and Joel Powell.

Tomlinson Funeral Home of Swainsboro had charge of arrangements.
