PUBLIC HEARiNG

Pursuant to Article 14, Section 14-1 of the Comprehensive Zoning Regulations of the City of Swainsboro dated May 5, 1997, notice is hereby given that a Public Hearing will be held in the City Hall of the City of Swainsboro at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2008. The purpose of this hearing is to gather information, solicit comments from the public and answer any questions regarding the proposed amendment to the boundaries of certain zoning districts as listed and detailed below:

1.- To amend the boundaries of the Professional District to include the east side of Kite Road from the north side of West Church Street in a northerly direction to the southernmost point of the property described as Parcel 9, Map EM 76. This amendment would include the Parcels number 1, 10, 11, and 12 on Map S 34 and would delete the present zoning from R-1 Residential and amend the zoning to P-Professional.

2.- To amend the boundaries of the R-8 Residential District on the west side of North Green Street from a point approximately 655 feet from the corner of McCloud's Bridge Road in a northerly direction to the present R-8 Zoning District. This amendment would include the complete Parcel 158, Parcels 146 and Parcel 147, Map S23 which border on the east side of Gumlog Street. This amendment would delete the present C-8 Commercial and amend the Zoning to R-8 Residential.

3.- To amend the boundaries of the R-8 Residential District on the east side of Industrial

Way from the north side of Colgrove Drive to the southernmost point of Parcel 60, Map

S 09 which is approximately 485 feet South of East Main Street. This amendment would

delete the present M-2 Light Industrial District and amend the zoning to R-8 Residential.

4.- To amend the boundaries of the R-8 Residential District on the west side of Gumlog

Street from a point approximately 560 feet in a northerly direction from the north side of

McCloud's Bridge Road to Oliphant Street. This amendment would include Parcels 132

and 1 32A, Map S23 on the west side of Gumlog Street and would delete the present C-8

Commercial Zoning and amend the zoning to R-8 Residential.

The project consists of an approximate length of 0.39 miles. This project area is located

along US 1 Bus./U.S. 80 (north, south, east, and west) Main Streets in downtown

Swainsboro. The proposed project will replace existing sidewalks along both sides of the

four streets to match the existing patterned sidewalk to improve the overall look of the

downtown area. All curb cuts will be made ADA accessible with wheelchair ramps and

detectable warning surfaces.

Georgia Department of Transportation.
