Barrow welcomes Jones' to DC

K. JONES , BARROW, A. JONES
Congressman John Barrow met with Dr. H. Kemp Jones of Swainsboro and Alicia Kerry Jones of the American Optometric Association in his offices on April 9 to discuss pending legislation that would improve access to professional eye and vision care.

Congressman Barrow has a vested interest in promoting health care for the citizens of the 12th District, and has met with providers and hospital officials in the district. He has co-signed bills that would promote better access to eye care for citizens of the district by equalizing rules between Medicare and Medicaid, and allowing doctors of optometry to practice in underserved area through the National Health Service Corps.

Dr. Jones was in Washington as a member of the 2008 American Optometric Association Congressional Advocacy Conference. Over four hundred doctors of optometry from across the country met to discuss federal issues relating to the profession and their patients access issues. Dr. Jones was part of a group of doctors from Georgia who met with Senators and Congressmen to share their concerns over these issues.

"I have been very impressed with Congressman Barrow's efforts on behalf of the citizens of Georgia to insure they have access the best possible health care. He has demonstrated his commitment to that by co-signing two bills that should make a tremendous difference in patients being able to find a doctor to take care of their needs," Dr. Jones said.
