Board of Education holds April meeting

The Emanuel County Board of Education held its monthly meeting on April 14. At the meeting, the board recognized the system-wide winners of the Young Georgia Authors Competition. The entries will be sent to the State Department for judging and a state-wide winner will be announced in September.

The motion to accept all business under the consent agenda, including tentative approval of Board Policy IHF(6) and a change order for the SHS Gym project, passed unanimously.

During the executive session, all considerations for classified personnel were approved as well as the considerations for certified personnel, then the meeting was adjourned.

Classified personnel approvals (pending fingerprinting results) were: Susan Allman, Bus Driver (system); Morgan King, Sub. Teacher (system); Derek Johnson, Bus Driver (system); Charollet Foskey, Sub. Food Service (system); Angela Bunyon, Sub. Teacher (system); Lucy Foots, Sub. Teacher (system); Veronica Moody, Sub. Teacher (system) and Angela Moore, Sub. Teacher (system).

In certified personnel, approvals were made for the non-renewal (certification pending) of Amanda Brunger, teacher at Swainsboro High, effective for the 2008-09 school term, while Ashley Crosby, teacher at Swainsboro High, was approved for renewal for the 2008- 09 school year. Transfer was approved for Christian Kraus, teacher, who will transfer from Swainsboro High School to Emanuel County Institute for the 2008-09 school year.
