Living the new life
Douglas Hutchinson

Once again April is here. It is a time when all of nature takes on new life. The flowers bloom, grass begins to grow, trees spring forth with new leaves and a time when everything around us comes to life. It is also a great time to celebrate our new life in Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." To know that God through the works of Christ at Calvary's cross gives us new life should bring us hope and happiness. Once we receive Christ as our Lord and Savior, the Bible tells us in Ephesians 4:21-32, that we must put off the old man, the old way we lived and put on the new man which is in Christ. The way we live our lives as Christians is very important for the glory of God.

If we ever want to lead others to Christ, we must show that He is Lord over our lives. As Christians, we to often let things of the world get us down. We go around with sad expressions on our faces. Knowing Christ as our Lord should bring us hope even in times of despair and a smile in times of pain and sorrow.

Deuteronomy 31:6 says, "Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee." God is always with us even in our most time of need and there to comfort us.

In my life before Christ, I could not see God at work. Now in my new life in Christ I look for God in every aspect of my life. And I know that I can do NOTHING without Him. So, in this time when new life is all around us, let us not forget who we are in Christ by taking time to examine our own hearts to see where we stand with Christ.

We should always be looking for an opportunity to share the gospel of Christ with those that do not Him as their Savior. We all know someone who is lost.

May God Bless.--Rev. Douglas Hutchinson, Pastor, Zaidee Advent Christian Church,Tarrytown.
