A handful of deuces and aces
On Monday, March 25, the Tigers played Jefferson County at home. It was a good day for playing. The wind was minimal and the weather was nice. Perfect for playing tennis. The match went well for both the girls' and the boys' teams. Senior 1st singles player for the girls Lacey London won her match 6-1, 6-0. Erin Garrett and Katie Hood also won their singles matches undefeated with a score of 6-0, 6-0. Playing doubles for the girls were Kayla Kirby and Lani Garrett, who quickly beat their opponents to win their match 6- 1, 6-1. Bruna Rodriguez and Lashonda Sherrod weren't far behind also winning their match 6-4, 6-3. The girls swept away Jefferson County with a final team score of 5-0. Ty Gillis, Tiger tennis player, was down early in the match but came back and won 6-4, 6-0. Drake Oglesby put away his opponent quickly and efficiently with a final score of 6-1, 6-0. Tyler Yeomans worked hard to win his match 7-5, 6-2. Playing doubles for the Tigers were Owen Bailey and Brian Peebles, who redeemed themselves after an earlier loss to Jefferson County. They won their match quickly with a match score of 6-2, 6-0. Not so quick to end was the match played by Jared Sammons and Michael Henry. The match went on for 3 full hours and was full of deuces and long games. The first set went by quickly with the dynamic duo winning 6-2 over Jefferson County. The second set didn't go to well for them, however, and they lost 3-6. In a final set to determine the winners, the two teams tied 6- 6 and went into a final tiebreaker where Sammons and Henry won 7-4. The final score for the boys' team was 5-0, a clean sweep. The Tigers will be playing today at Screven County and again on April 8, at Toombs County. The games will be played at 4:00 pm. Please come out and support the Tigers!
