VIP Tour plans finalized

Plans have been finalized for the Georgia Department of Economic Development's International VIP Tour to Emanuel County.

Earlier in the year it was announced that Emanuel County and Flat Creek Lodge had been selected to host a part of this year's April 22-24th tour.

The event is designed to provide Atlanta's international diplomatic and business communities with the opportunity to see, experience and meet Georgians in areas of the state outside metropolitan Atlanta. At the same time, the tour affords an opportunity for the host community to establish contacts and promote their community to international representatives who can be influential links in business and industry development.

"The International VIP Tour is a unique program, mutually beneficial for all participants," stated Bill Rogers Jr., chamber president. "It is the only event that brings the bulk of Atlanta's diplomatic community, which now represents more than 50 countries, together to see what we as a community have to offer."

The itinerary combines tourism, economic development and a community tour into one seamless presentation. As a result, VIP guests gain a perspective about culture, economy and local character.

The route for the 2008 Tour will take the group from Atlanta to Athens to Sandersville to Swainsboro to Milledgeville, with overnight stops at Ritz Carlton Lodge, Lake Oconee and Flat Creek Lodge.

The Swainsboro portion of the tour will begin with arrival of the group at the National Nanotechnology Manufacturing Center (NNMC) at Swainsboro Technical College. After a tour of NNMC, the group will be transported to Flat Creek Lodge for a reception followed by dinner.

This year's group of attendees represent Liechtenstein, France, Albania, Costa Rica, Philippines, Guatemala, Canada, Australia, Botswana, Greece, Lithuania, Mexico, New Zealand, Argentina, Israel, Czech Republic, Japan, Nigeria, Brazil, Denmark, Taiwan, Slovenia, Honduras, Belgium and the United Kingdom.

Hosting the dinner will be the Joint Development Authorities of Emanuel County, City of Swainsboro, Emanuel County Commission, and the Swainsboro/Emanuel County Chamber of Commerce.
