On Monday, March 10, the boys and girls Tiger tennis team played Johnson County at East Georgia College. The girls team won their match 4-1. Lacey London, 1st singles, won her match 6-4, 6-1. Erin Garrett, 2nd singles, tied her opponent 6-4, 4-6 and played a tiebreaker set to win. Brinsley Screws, 3rd singles, swept away her opponent 6-0, 6-0. In doubles Katie Hood and Lani Garrett won 6-1, 6-0. The boys played well against Johnson County too, also winning 4-1. Ty Gillis, 1st singles, won his match 6-3, 6-2. Tyler Yeomans, 3rd singles, lost his first set 4-6, but won his second set 6-0. In a tiebreaker set he defeated his opponent 6-2 winning the match. Drake Oglesby, won his first set 7-5 and wasn't required to play the rest of his match because the Tigers had already won. Owen Bailey and Brian Peebles, first doubles, also won their match 6-2, 7-6.

The Tigers region match against Southeast Bulloch on March 11 was unfortunately rained out not only on that day, but also on the 19th when it was rescheduled. The Tigers played Jefferson County on their courts on March 12. The matches were pro-8 or the first player to 8 wins. The girls team swept away the competition 5-0. London and Screws both went undefeated winning their matches 8-0. Erin Garrett and Bruna Rodriguez weren't far behind with match wins of 8-1 and 8-2 respectively. In doubles Noelle and Katie Hood won 8-2, while Lashonda Sherrod and Rodriguez won 8-4. Brittany Bell and Kathryn Thompson also tied 8-8 and won in a tiebreaker match. The boys also won their match 4-1. Gillis defeated his opponent in 8-5, while Ogelsby won 8-3. Yeomans went undefeated 8-0. In doubles Jared Sammons and Michael Henry won their match 8-1. Not to be showed up, Joe Gomez and Trey Wiley also won 8- 1.

Due to weather and other complications the matches for March 18 and 19 were canceled. The Tigers did play Westside on March 20, but lost. The only matches won between the Tigers were the boys and girls 3rd singles players. Yeomans won 6-2, 6-0, while Screws went 6-3, 7-6 and won in a tiebreaker.

The Tigers definitely have a good tennis team this year. Tuesday, April 1, the Tigers will play Toombs County at East Georgia College and Harmon Park at 4:00. On April 2, they will travel to Screven County to play a region match. Please come out and give the Tigers some support!
