AWhite Bible Ceremony was given for Brad Riner and Christie Riles. The ceremony was held at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Craig Mitchell in Albany, Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008. The White Bible Ceremony is an old southern tradition that speaks of faith and love in the language of flowers. The flowers used in the ceremony are symbolic of the characterics of a Christian marriage. Following the addition of each flower to the bride-to-be's bouquet a brief explanation is given about the symbolism of the flower and a corresponding scripture is read. Brad and Christie's favorite scriptures in I Corinthians 13 were woven into the scriptural explanation. The red rose often used in bridal bouquet symbolizes "love", the white rose "purity" and so on. Brad placed each flower in Christie's bouquet which when completed was placed into a "tussie mussie" holder which was given to the Christie at the end.

In the second part of the ceremony a white family bible was presented to the couple, from which scripture will be read during the upcoming wedding ceremony. The ceremony concluded with a blessing by the bride-to-be's father and the reading of the poem "Dear Bride-to-Be" by Beth Moore.

Following the ceremony, afternoon tea was served. Guest included the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Britt Riles; the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Martin Riner; the wedding attendents and several friends and relatives.

Hostesses for the White Bible Ceremony were Wanda Mitchell, Mariruth Whittle, Sharon Presley, Jennifer Bonner, Maureen Pace and Laura Benford.

Brad and Christie's wedding is planned for April 5, 2008 in Albany.
