Spring cleaning' slated downtown

AL LAWSON, DESSIE DAVIS, SAM SULLIVAN
In conjunction with a greater Emanuel County Cleanup, the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is hosting a spring cleaning for downtown businesses. Sam Sullivan of Sullivan Environmental offered to donate three dumpsters to the Downtown Development Authority for the event. Downtown businesses are encouraged to use this opportunity to get rid of old equipment, trash, and debris. The dumpsters will be offered to the downtown businesses free of charge.

The Spring cleaning is a response to a survey taken by downtown businesses. "Cleanliness downtown was one of the top five concerns by local downtown businesses," explains Director of Downtown Development (DDD) Anthony Faris. "So we have a host of projects we are working on to address all these issues." Swainsboro City Council approved the Spring Cleaning day which is March 26-28. In addition to the dumpsters left at the Boneyard for downtown businesses, the Authority is also offering free trash pick-up service for downtown businesses that reserve their place with the Downtown Development director.

"We are very thankful to the Downtown Development Authority, city council, Mayor Charles Schwabe, City Administrator Al Lawson, Chamber of Commerce, downtown businesses and Mr. Sullivan of Sullivan Environmental for their support of this downtown clean-up project," said Faris.

"The success of downtown ultimately relies on collaborations like this." If your downtown business needs more information of the Downtown Spring Cleaning please contact DDD Anthony Faris at 237- 7025.
