Pierce wins title
Jacob Pierce, 6-year-old son of Darin and April Pierce of Warner Robins (formerly of Swainsboro), won the title of 2008 USA wrestling Little Kids Georgia State Champ for the 6 and under age division at Parkview High School in Lilburn on March 8. He is pictured here wrestling Matt Anderson of White County. Jacob had competed in Camden County for the regional qualifiers the previous weekend and also received 1st place at that tournament. There are five qualifiers held over the state and the top 3 place holders in each qualifier advance to the finals at Parkview. During the finals he pinned two of his opponents and won the championship match by points with a final score of 9-6 over his opponent Zeke Brown of Calhoun. He has wrestled for two years for the Perry Takedown Club in Perry. Cheering him on were his grandparents, Billy and Charlotte Edenfield of Swainsboro. Jacob is also the grandson of Lydia Pierce, formerly of Stillmore.
