Morris Lawson Smith, 73 SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Morris Lawson Smith, 73, was held Friday, March 14, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the Peebles Curry Memorial Chapel with Jerry Brown officiating. Burial was in Swainsboro City Cemetery. He died Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Emanuel Medical Center after an extended illness. Mr. Smith was a native of Emanuel County and a member of Sardis Primitive Baptist Church. He was an electrician with Lawson Electric, a front end alignment specialist with Johnson & Neighbors and Roberts Service Station, was employed by Better Built Building of Kite and a member of the Georgia National Guard. His hobby was cooking. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Jerdie and Lucille Lawson Smith; two sisters, Carlene Fries and Wadie Watson; and a brother, Rev. Roy Edwin Thompson. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Faye Mason Smith of Swainsboro; two sons and daughtersin law, Mark Lawson and Brenda Smith of St. Marys; and Mathew Mason and Lisa Smith of Kite; a brother and sister-in-law, William Ray and Annette Thompson of Swainsboro; two grandchildren, Emily Carlene Smith of Jacksonville, Fla.; and Austin Hunter Smith of Swainsboro; and five step-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Richard Reddish, Phil Thompson, Dev Watson, Kal Thompson, Drew Thompson, Vince Denison, Kelly Warren and Rick Smith.
