Early morning wreck

At 5:39 a.m. on Thursday, March 13, Georgia State Patrol Trooper Benjamin Allen Forehand of Swainsboro was involved in a one-car accident. Forehand, 37, was traveling south on GA 4 outside of Oak Park when his vehicle drifted to the west shoulder of the road. Forehand steered to re-enter the traffic lane and then countersteered, causing the vehicle to rotate clockwise and leave the road, sliding broadside for 200 feet and striking a guidewire for a power pole. The vehicle then slid 39 feet and struck a tree on its left front door, rotating around the tree to come to rest around 89 feet from the road. There have been no official reports of Forehand's condition at this time, but he was removed from the scene and taken to Memorial Medical Center by Life Star.
