SHS wrestling competes in area tournament

SHS WRESTLING

Swainsboro High School Wrestling team recently competed in the 2AA Area Tournament hosted by Toombs County High School.

The Tigers placed 3rd out of 17 teams in the twoday tournament. Dublin and Toombs County finished ahead of the Tigers. The Tigers ended the day with 155 team points. The Tigers were lead with strong finishes by Clayton Faircloth (130lb Area Runner Up), Brandon Fields (135lb 3rd in Area), Wade Farrow (160lb Area Champion), Roosevelt Williams (215lb Area Runner Up), and Derrick Shuemake (285lb Area Champion).

The Tigers will be leaving out Thursday morning on their way to Atlanta for the AA State Tournament. Also wrestling in last weekend's Area tournament was Joseph Gomez (103lb), Logan Hall (119lb), Tyler Williamson (125lb-5th Place-Alternate), Shon Phillips (140lb), Michael Chalkley (145lb-5th Place-Alternate), Edger Lopes (152lb), Matthew Chalkley (171lb), and Corey Chalker (189lb).
