Making 'fraction sundaes'

Ms. Cassie Bramblett's and Mrs. Anna Cowart's fifth grade math classes at Swainsboro Elementary School recently created "Fraction Sundaes." The students selected how many different flavors of ice cream they wanted on their sundae. Next, the students decided what fraction each flavor represented. Finally, the students made their sundaes by creating a bowl and ice cream scoops for their masterpiece. The students really enjoyed this activity while learning, adding and simplifying fractions.
