Edward (Ed) A. Hattaway, 82 TWIN CITY--Funeral for Edward (Ed) A. Hattaway, 82, was held Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008 at 3 p.m. in Peebles Curry Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Steve Darby and Scott Hudson officiating. Burial was in Old Cannoochee Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. He died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008 at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro after an extended illness. Mr. Hattaway was a native of Emanuel County and a retired Merchant Marine. He was a member of the VFW American Legion Sea Farers Union and a Mason. Mr. Hattaway was preceded in death by his parents William Steve and Sally Lou Jones Hattaway. Survivors include two stepsons, Greg Edwards and Mike Beres; three nieces, Bobbie Gene H. Juhan of Griffin; Louise Lanier of Metter; and Margie Collins of Augusta; a nephew, Billy Ray Hattaway of Cleveland; and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were John Lanier, Jim Lanier, Len McCook, Spencer Lanier, Bill Bird, George Walter Bird III, and Robert Collins.
