The Emanuel County Arts Council and the Emanuel County 4-H Program joined forces to present the community with an evening of song and dance. The nationally acclaimed Georgia 4-H Performing Arts Group, Clovers & Co., performed their 22nd Annual Show "People." The show featured 30 minutes of singing and dancing backed by a live band. Songs of the past and present were combined in a fast-paced performance that everyone enjoyed. Clovers & Co. was first established in 1981 and they perform on behalf of the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Cooperative Extension Service. The group was composed of thirty-eight talented dancers, singers, and instrumentalists from across the state. Performing in the group were local 4-H members Asia Andrews and Chelsie Hooks.

Shirley and Roy Joe Boulineau of Swainsboro won the $12 million Georgia Lottery and quickly became the hottest subject in the entire town. On their way to Statesboro, they stopped Time Saver #73 on South Main to buy a ticket because they just "felt lucky." Mr. Roy also said that he doubted if he had "bought more than a dozen tickets since the lottery began."

Emanuel County Hospital's "new" emergency facility was brought into full operation. It was said to be capable of handling any emergency and any admission. The hospital addition had been under construction for nearly two years. It included motion-activated doors, a new admission desk, and modernlyequipped emergency rooms. The new emergency facility was just part of the 26,319-foot expansion and renovation project which cost some $2.6 million.

50 Years Ago

The Swainsboro Tigers went into "sudden death" overtime with Sandersville in basketball. The score was tied 56-56. Fortunately the Tigers conquered the team and won the Region 2A championship! They went to state!
