Around 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5, Sheriff's Deputies responded to a theft call on Leopard Drive and wound up in a chase with the suspect. Arledge pulled into a McLeod Bridge Road farm and abandoned his car, fleeing into the woods. Officials searched the area, but were unable to locate Arledge. After lunch on Tuesday, Arledge was spotted in the Ohoopee Dunes area off Highway 80 West. Authorities engaged in a manhunt to attempt to capture the fugitive. Assisting Emanuel County Sheriff's Officers in the search were the East Central Georgia Drug Task Force, the Treutlen County Sheriff's Office, Swainsboro Police Detectives, Adrian Police Department, Georgia State Parole Officers, GBI Agents, MCCD Enforcement, Georgia State Troopers, Georgia State Patrol Aviation Unit Helicopter, and Georgia Department of Corrections K-9 Units from Reidsville. Arledge eluded authorities in the heavily wooded area, but was spotted just before 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning by a motorist who called 911. When Sheriff's Deputies arrived, Arledge fled on foot but was quickly captured by a Sheriff's Investigator. Arledge is currently being held in the Emanuel County Jail awaiting extradition on Parole Warrants from Alabama. There are also pending charges in Emanuel County resulting from Domestic Violence, Theft, and Fleeing and Eluding Officers. If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact the Emanuel County Sheriff's Office at 237-7526.
