Tigers prepare for region tournament

      With the region tournament finally here, competition is tougher than ever for the Tigers. Despite the increased competition, they still maintain their spirits and play just as hard as they ever have. It's perfectly clear that they want to win and will go for it with everything they have.

DEA defeats Twiggs, Curtis Baptist

      The David Emanuel Academy boys basketball team ended the 2007-08 regular season with two wins as they defeated Twiggs Academy 48-31 last Friday in Jeffersonville and then downed Curtis Baptist School 56-43 in the home finale on Saturday afternoon.

Jasmine Phillips scores season high

      Freshman Jasmine Phillips scored a season high 20 points to lead David Emanuel Academy to a 56-35 win over Twiggs Academy last Friday night in Jeffersonville. With the win DEA ended region play with a 7-3 record and tied for second place with Thomas Jefferson Academy in the GISA 2-A standings.

SHS wrestling team participates in Sweet Onion Classic
      The Swainsboro High School Wrestling Team traveled to Vidalia this past weekend to compete in the 8th Annual Sweet Onion Classic. The Tigers were without one of their top point scorers and they still managed to pull off the best showing in the program's history at the Vidalia tournament.

      Members of the Swainsboro-Emanuel County Recreation Department Midget Boys Allstar Basketball team will travel to Vidalia, Feb. 16, to face Waynesboro Allstars in the first game of the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association First District Class "B"Tournament. The game begins at 9:30 a.m.
