The Tigers take it to the court This past Friday night the Tigers traveled away to compete with Westside. Both the boys and girls played hard and gave it their all. Most unfortunately, however, the Lady Tigers were slightly outgunned by their opposition with a final score of 40-35. Leading the team were Jasmine Lloyd with 11 points and Jayde Nail with 10 points. Things were a little better for the boys, and they managed to stop Westside 71-61. It was no surprise when Tony Mitchell led the team with a sweet 32 points through the hoops. Malcom Eady and Cecil Bent were on their toes as well, scoring 14 points and 10 points respectively. The next night was full of surprises, both good and bad. It was devastating for the Lady Tigers, who lost 65-25 in a region game with Laney. Putting the most points through the hoops this time were Lloyd once again with 8 points and Clara Worthen with 6 points. The boys on the other hand narrowly defeated Laney with a final score of 74-72. Mitchell, high scorer for the Tigers with 28 points, gave the audience an exciting show with the help of the Wildcats' Harold Doby, who put in 35 points himself. In regards to Doby, Mitchell said, "That kid has a lot of game already. To be just a junior, he can play. I think he's got a bright future. He'll be at another level next year." Other high scorers were Eady who pitched in 13 points and Bent who added 12 points to the scoreboard. This was definitely a game you wouldnot have wanted to miss. The results of this week's games leaves the record for the Lady Tigers 6-6 in Region 3-AA. The boys maintain a record of 8-4 in Region 3-AA. Come out and support the Tigers as they take on Southeast Bulloch on Friday and Wilkinson County on Saturday! Go Tigers!
