Leonard Hewett Smith, 74 WADLEY--Funeral for Leonard Hewett Smith, 74, will be held Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Lambs Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Donna Ashworth officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. He died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008 at University Hospital in Augusta. Mr. Smith was born in Emanuel County. After many years away, he moved to Wadley. He attended University of Florida and University of Georgia. He graduated from Georgia State University in Atlanta in 1964 with a BBA degree. He retired from the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. where he was a senior budget analyst. He was a US Army veteran, serving in Korea from 1951-1954. He was active in Toastmasters International for many years and AA for 20 years, and a lifetime member of American Legion. Survivors include daughters, Teresa Jan Peeler and Stefanie Sabra Smith; sons, Lenard H. Smith, Jr. and Josef Cecil Smith; stepdaughter, Pamila Butler; brothers, Reverend J. Larrie Smith of Belair, Md.; and Tilden W. Smith of Valdosta. Pallbearers will be Matthew Smith, Mark Smith, Richard Smith, Stefanie Smith, Lynn Smith, Josef Smith, and Edgar Smith. Smith Funeral Home of Wadley had charge of arrangements.
