Ida Carrie Mimbs Jones ADRIAN--Funeral for Ida Carrie Mimbs Jones was held Monday, Jan. 14, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Corinth United Methodist Church in Meeks with Rev. Ray Veal and Rev. Hugh Baxter officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. She died at Emanuel Medical Center on Jan. 12, 2008 after a brief illness. Mrs. Jones was a lifelong member of Corinth United Methodist Church and a recent resident of Church Street Manor in Swainsboro. She performed as "Aunt Ida Belle" on television in Macon, the Peach State Opry in Swainsboro and most recently at Emanu'Ole Opry in Swainsboro. She was a former member of Adrian Friendship Club, Emanuel County 4-H Leaders and numerous other organizations. As a child of the Depression, she provided numerous historical accounts of her life and family to document the history of the Meeks era. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley K. Jones Sr.; sister, Estelle Bailes; brothers, Rastus Mimbs and Russell Mimbs; parents, Jim and Stella Hutcheson Mimbs; and grandson, Phillip Samuel Jones Jr. Survivors include her children, Phillip S. Jones Sr. (Dot) of Kite; Dr. H. Kemp Jones (Irene) of Swainsboro; John A. Jones (June) of Adrian; Marie Ann Amerson (Jerry) of Macon; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Douglas Kersey, Eddie Flanders, Raymond Wiley, Joe Jackson, Bob Mimbs and O.C. Hutcheson. Honorary pallbearers were J.R. Woods, Aubrey Womack and Dot Gardner. Tomlinson Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
