Bravo to ECI Band! DEAR EDITOR: I'd like to take this opportunity to shout "Bravo!" for the ECI Bulldogs Marching Band and Dancers. Congratulations to you and your great year. This year you were able to realize that you were a part of a history-making success story in Twin City. You added the soul and spirit of the football games week after week. You made a great sacrifice to be all you could be and all that the band director required. At half-time, the show was outstanding. When the 23 band members walked out on the field and began to play James Brown's music, they played loud. You could hear them half a mile away. I sometimes wanted to say, "Play it loud, I'm black and proud." They played "Papa Got a Brand New Bag," "I Feel Good" and "Get Up Off That Thing." The band kept the spirit going. We were able to dance, clap, sing, shout, sway, tap our feet and snap our fingers. The young and the old got into the act. Some of us relived the James Brown era. James Brown got his start playing in Boogie's Nightclub, right here in Twin City. I even tried to dance. At the Wilcox game, we were all dancing everywhere, shouting "I feel good!" Victory!
I am grateful to God, and to Mr. McBride and Twin City's ECI Marching Band and Dancers for your faithfulness and great work. May you continue to be the best band in the whole wide world. May God continue to bless and keep you forever. I salute you!
