Lady Tigers pick up region win
By JIM WILLIS

Going into this past weekend the Lady Tigers of Swainsboro High were 2-1 in Region 3-AA, and in desperate need of a region win. Their weekend schedule would not be a light task. On Friday, the Lady Tigers played the T.W. Josey Lady Eagles, and on Saturday the Westside Augusta Lady Patriots stopped through Swainsboro.

With only one loss in the region the Lady Tigers played host to the Lady Eagles of Josey. Jasmine Lloyd was the only Tiger in double-digits. Lloyd scored 25 of the Tigers 43 points. Jayde Nail was the second highest scorer with 8 points.

From start to finish, the game was very physical. Both teams would score back-and forth the entire game. In the end, the Lady Eagles were able to finish strong and come away with the win.

That region win that eluded the Lady Tigers on Friday night would come on Saturday. The Lady Tigers dominated every facet of the game on Saturday night and came away with a very impressive win.

Lloyd scored 19 and Nail had 14 points. Clara Worthen posted 8 points.

This weekend the Lady Tigers will host Jefferson County Lady Warriors at 7 p.m. on Friday night in Swainsboro. On Saturday, the girls will have a rematch against the Lucy Laney Lady Wildcats in Augusta. The Lady Wildcats defeated Swainsboro earlier this season. This will be the first time Head Coach Bobby Andrews and the girls have played an away game since January 4. Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
