Lady Tigers on winning streak
By JIM WILLIS

Coming off a loss over the holidays, the Lady Tigers were ready for region play. Two straight region games over the weekend would prove if the Lady Tigers could compete in region 2-AA. Head Coach Bobby Andrews and his squad answered with a resounding "Yes." The Lady Tigers defeated both of their region opponents over the weekend and improved their record to 2-1 in the region and 4-5 overall.

Metter 42, Swainsboro 54

It was a very competitive game. Both teams showed tremendous hustle and played hard throughout the game. In the end the Swainsboro Tigers were just too much for former Swainsboro Coach DeWayne Davis's Metter Tigers. Jasmine Lloyd scored 19 points and Jayde Nail had 12 points.

Screven County 33, Swainsboro 40

After reaching .500 in the region the Lady Tigers were ready to host the Lady Gamecocks on Saturday night. It was a very physical and intense game on both sides of the ball for the Lady Tigers. In order to defeat the Lady Gamecocks, Swainsboro had to execute, and that's what they did. Lloyd followed up her 19 points on Friday, with 19 points on Saturday. Khayla Bynes had 8 points in the victory.

With the two wins the Lady Tigers have a winning record in the region. The record will be tested this weekend against the Lady Eagles of T.W. Josey on Friday and the Lady Patriots of Westside-Augusta on Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday and 6 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $5, boys' game will follow.
