Johnson, Tankersley honored at Farm/City banquet
      Two Emanuel County citizens were recently honored during the annual Farm/City Celebration for their contributions to agriculture and their community. Abb Dan Johnson and his family were given the "Farm Family of the Year" award.

Carlyle entertains troops in Korea
      Local comic Barbara Carlyle of Twin City recently entertained the troops in Korea as part of the MWR tour. Carlyle, a former Marine, kicked off her tour in Osan, Korea. Other camps are also on the schedule. "I think it's an honor to be invited to entertain the troops," she said.

Motorcycle club donates fruit baskets
      On Dec. 21, 2007, Easy Riders Motorcycle Club visited Twin View Health Care Facility in Twin City where they handed out fruit baskets and socks to all the residents and some of the staff.

Mike Tapley retires after 38 years
      On Dec. 3, 2007, Mike Tapley of Swainsboro said good-bye to fellow employees after a 38 year career at the Swainsboro Post Office. Mr. Tapley began his career Nov. 21, 1969 in this office, at the young age of 18 years old.

Cantero is first baby born at EMC
      Nine pound, 2 ounce Litcel Cantero, was the first baby born at Emanuel Medical Center on January 1, 2008, at 4:27 pm. Her mother, Daena Dela Cruz Cantero, proudly holds her new infant as Jorgen Olsson, M.D. and Tara Newsome, R.N. present a gift basket for being the first baby born in 2008.
