Seena Tillman Wilkes, 61 HAMPSTEAD, N.C.-- Funeral for Seena Tillman Wilkes, 61, was held Friday, Dec. 21, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Jimmy Gilbert, Rev. Ken Banker and Rev. R.M. Warren officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. She died Dec. 18, 2007 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, N.C. Mrs. Wilkes was a Wayne County native and grew up in Brunswick. She was a former resident of Surrency and had recently moved to Hampstead, N.C. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Wardell Tillman and Louise Boone Tillman. She was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church and was a member of United Methodist Women's Organization and served as treasurer for many years. She also sang in the choir for many years. She was a graduate of Glynn Academy High School in Brunswick and received a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. She taught for 31 years and was a member of Appling County Retired Educators. Survivors include her husband, Herman Wilkes of Hampstead, N.C.; three sons, Thomas Blake Wilkes of Hampstead, N.C.; Herman Wilkes Jr. of Dubai, Asia; and Bobby Wilkes of Atlanta; and three grandchildren. Pallbearers were Lanny Tillman, Gary Tillman, Landry Tillman, Steve Worthington, Stephen Tillman, Larry Tomberlin, Daniel Worthington and Edwin Warren. Honorary pallbearers were past and present teachers of Appling County Board of Education. Swain Funeral Home of Baxley had charge of arrangements.
