Blount, Walden are Heisman winners

WALDEN, BLOUNT
Alysa Walden and Brandon Blount of David Emanuel Academy have been selected as school winners for the Wendy's High School Heisman. Since 1994, the Wendy's High School Heisman program has recognized the nation's top male and female seniors who have excelled in academics, athletics, and community and school involvement. Walden is the daughter of Bill and Patricia Walden of Metter, and Blount is the son of David and Brenda Blount of Twin City.

Blount has been awarded the President's Award for Academic Excellence, the National Leadership Merit Award, Who's Who and National Honor Roll. He is an All-American Scholar and has received numerous awards for academic excellence. In football, he has been selected for All-Region, has been named most improved in 10th grade and offensive player of the year in 11th grade. In baseball he was selected All-Region in 10th grade and was All- Region, All-State and MVP in 11th grade. He has assisted with FBLA nursing home visitation, and is a member of his church youth group.

Walden has been awarded the UGA Certificate of Merit, the Rotary Youth Leadership Award, the DAR American History Award, the President's Award for Academic Excellence, National Honor Roll, National Leadership Merit Award and Who's Who. She is an All-American Scholar and an honor student and has received numerous awards for academic excellence. She is also a member of the DEA SAT 1550 club and has been a cheerleader for four years. She is involved in competitive dance, has been a volunteer for the Young Eagles, Operation Christmas Child, and has assisted with nursing home visits in her community with FBLA.
