Phillips honored with retirement events

SSG PHILLIPS
Wanda A. Phillips, daughter of H.S. Phillips, Jr. and Mattie M. Phillips of Stillmore was honored with a Battalion Hail & Farewell Dinner recently at Buffalo's in Hinesville. SSG Phillips was presented with a plaque and award from the Battalion CSM and her supervisor. Special guest for the event was the honoree's mother, Mattie M. Phillips.

SSG Phillips was also honored with a retirement luncheon at Western Sizzler in Hinesville. She was presented with several gifts from personnel in the unit. Special guests for the event was the honoree's mother, Mrs. Phillips; and sister, Sharon Y. Phillips of Hephzibah.

SSG Phillips entered the U.S. Army in 1986, and has worked as an Aviation Flight Operations Sergeant for over 21 years. Her duty stations have included Ft. Mc- Clellan, Ala.; Ft. Rucker, Ala.; Ft. Drum, N.Y.; Germany (two tours); Korea (two tours); West Point, N.Y.; Ft. Hood, Texas (two tours); Baghdad, Iraq (17 months), and her present duty station, Ft. Stewart.

SSG Phillips is a 1984 graduate of Emanuel County Institute and she has one son, Shaun D. Phillips, who is a student at Valdosta State University. Her official retirement date will be January 31, 2008 for 21 years, eight months and four days of honorable military service to her country.
