Ryan Claxton, 18

KITE--Funeral for Ryan Claxton, 18, was held Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007 at 3 p.m. at Gumlog Primitive Baptist Church near Kite with Elder Tommy McGee officiating and Rev. Bill Snipes assisting. Burial was in the church cemetery. He died Friday, Nov. 23, 2007 at Medical College of Georgia from injuries received in an auto accident.

Mr. Claxton was born in Laurens County and had lived in Kite most of his life. He was a 2007 graduate of Johnson County High School where he was active in Future Farmers of America. He was awarded the "Best Citizen" award in 2006, was employed by Swainsboro Concrete and was also a student at Swainsboro Technical College. He attended Eastwood Church of God. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Comer and Merle Claxton.

Survivors include his father, Edwin C. Claxton of Kite; his mother and stepfather, Cindy and Gordon Sheppard of Kite; his grandmother, Mildred Harper of Swainsboro; and his brother, Eric C. Claxton of Kite.

Pallbearers were Cody Colston, Sheldon Smith, Joseph Martin, Greg Glover, Brandon Hood and Bruce Ivey. Honorary pallbearers were Nick Ivey, Jimmy Ivey, Todd Ivey, Bob Spivey, Charles Johnson and Jefferey Scarboro; and Georgia State Department of Corrections Johnson State Prison.
