Thank you to all who participated DEAR EDITOR: We want to thank everyone who participated in our Farm and Career Day at Swainsboro Primary and Swainsboro Elementary School on Friday, Nov. 2. We have many dedicated farmers and businesses in Emanuel County. They want our young people to learn about the industries that support growth and our way of life in this wonderful community. We have held Farm Day at our schools for the past 5 to 6 years. This year we asked businesses to become involved in our event. We set up 36 stations where students from grades kindergarten through fifth could learn about farm products, farm animals, farming equipment, baking and decorating cakes, fixing hair, being a doctor and becoming a fireman. At the end of the day over 1,400 students saw tractors, pigs, horses, cotton, peanuts and even cane grinding! The local historical society brought antique washers, cotton gins and quilting frames so the students can see how farmers used machines in years past. We would like to thank all the businesses and farm exhibitors who participated. SPS AND SES STUDENTS AND STAFF
