Marvin Kellum, 73 BREWER--Funeral for Marvin Kellum, 73, was held 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2007 at Doty Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Adams and Rev. Jason Fly officiating. Burial was in Brewer Cemetery. He died Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, at his residence in the Brewer Community after an extended illness. A Tomnolen native, he was born March 6, 1934 to the late James and Alma Blanton Kellum. He was raised in the Starkville area and later joined the Army where he served in a training unit in France during the Korean Conflict. He worked many years in general maintenance first with Futorian for over 16 years, a short while with Arvin Industries, and he retired with Action Industries in 1994 after 15 years of service. He never met a stranger, and was known for spending time talking to others and sharing his testimony where ever he went. He enjoyed camping, fishing, mowing and gardening, fixing all kinds of equipment and taking care of his numerous cats. He was a long-time member of Doty Chapel Baptist Church where he remained active until his health declined. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary Johnston Kellum of the Brewer Community; four sons, Rodney Eugene Kellum and his wife, Vanessa, of Swainsboro; Edward Arlie Kellum and his wife, Natalie, of Amory, Jeffrey Alan Kellum and his wife, Paula, of Hatley; and Charles Marvin Kellum and his wife, Tammie, of Abita Springs, La.; a sister, Geneva Green of Columbus; two brothers, Jimmy Kellum of Columbus, and Donnie Kellum of Sturgis; 10 grandchildren, Ronnie, Jennifer, Denae, Beth, Scooter, Dusty, Staci, Kristie, Amanda, and Rebecca; and eight greatgrandchildren. Pallbearers were Jamie Rock, Kevin Rich, Jeffrey Irvin, Ronnie Howard, and Scooter and Dusty Kellum. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
