TCE principal position announced

Superintendent Butch Frye informed Emanuel County Board of Education members Monday night that the position of principal for Twin City Elementary School has been announced and that a new principal will be hired by January 2008. Interim Principal is Huddie Culbreth. Interviews will be conducted through December.

The board accepted a bid of $186,048 for the purchase of two new school buses from Thomas Bus Sales of Georgia. Other bidders were Nalley Motor Trucks, $195,100; and Yancey Bus Sales & Service, $196,498.

In other business, the board approved:

• A fund raiser request by Twin City Elementary Junior Beta Club to sell coupon books for the 2007- 08 school term.

• Cancellation of the December workshop meeting on Dec. 24.

Shannon Meeks and Teddy Pierce, food service, Emanuel County Institute; Joy Brown, paraprofessional, Swainsboro Middle; Cynthia Bird, Linda Durden, Karen Manning, Janice Rowland and Jody Scarboro, substitute food service, system; Joan Davis, Almeatta Durden, Jeannie Morton, Lucresia Sapp and Jennifer White, substitute teachers, system.

Tiffany Wheeler, teacher, Swainsboro High; Michael Richards and Happy Wilson, Swainsboro Middle.

Recognitions were held for the following:

Stacey Barber, for being featured in Cabling Installation & Maintenance Magazine.

Emanuel County Preschool Center, Adrian School of Performing Arts, Twin City Elementary, Emanuel County Institute, Swainsboro Primary, Swainsboro Elementary, Swainsboro Middle and Swainsboro High, for earning Accredited With Quality status from Georgia Accrediting Commission.

Brice Bonds, for being Pledge of Allegiance Leader at the meeting.
