LOCAL 4-H'ERS WITH NETTLES
Terry Andrews, Sierra Beasley, Whitney Bush, and Buckley Screws recently performed with Jennifer Nettles, lead vocalist of the Grammy- Award Winning country group, Sugarland. Nettles who was an active 4- H member in her hometown of Douglas, Georgia, was also a member of the 4-H performing group, Clovers & Co. from 1986 to 1991. During her 4-H career, she served as a district 4-H officer, a state 4-H officer, and a camp counselor at Rock Eagle. Appropriately, she entered the stage in Centennial Park singing "Who Says You Can't Go Home?," a hit tune she recorded with Bon Jovi. Her performance with Clovers & Co. was the Opening Event for conference of the National Association of Extension 4-H Agents.

The professional development event, held in Atlanta, Oct. 21-25, was attended by 1400 Extension 4-H Agents from across the nation. The cap note speaker for the conference was Nancy Grace, a 4-H alumnus from Bibb County. Grace told the audience how her participation in 4-H prepared her for both her law career and her current television program on CNN.

Phil Torrance and Connie Page, local Extension professionals, had key roles in planning and conducting the conference. Torrance served as Chair of the Operations Division while Page was the Vice-Chair of the Facilities Committee.

Dr. Beverly Sparks, Assistant Dean for Extension, congratulated Georgia Extension 4-H Agents saying, "I have been to many professional association meetings and this one is now top of the list for organization, inspiration, entertainment and educational opportunities. You folks made Georgia shine!"
