Tigers' Dewheels are turning
By AGAN TANKERSLEY

RANDY DEKLE COMES UP WITH THE SACK
Before kickoff, a group of Tiger fans were standing around talking some pre-game statistics. Among the fans was Danny "Stat Cat" Henry who was enjoying the conversation. Right before the fans dispersed, "Stat Cat" made a confident statement, "The Tigers will defeat Jefferson 21 to 7." After four quarters of intense football, Henry's score was right. The Swainsboro Tigers defeated Jefferson County with a score of 21 to 7.

The Tigers came with a serious attitude this Friday night. The first score was off a 96 yard drive that was completed in 4 plays. Malcolm Eady capitalized on the drive with a 10 yard touchdown run. Pablo Silva tacked on the extra point. Going into the second quarter, the Tigers had the lead with seven points.

Jefferson County made an impressive drive, but had a hard time once they were in the red-zone. It took 12 plays for Jefferson to score after they were inside the 25 yard-line due to penalties. Jefferson finally scored with a 17 yard pass and the P.A. was good. The Tigers' defense has played well all season and they knew they had to play even better this game. Byron Foots made a game changing play when he intercepted a pass to put the Tigers in Jefferson territory. Rashdad James completed a 13 yard pass to Eady for six, P.A. good. Going into the half, Swainsboro was on top with a score of 14 to 7.

At the start of the third quarter, each team had even more energy than before. Jefferson County was getting ready to start a drive, when Foots came up with another interception. Eady pushed the ball across the goal line for six more points, P.A. was good.

Demetrius Mooreman "sealed the deal" when he made a interception in the fourth quarter and the Tigers then ran down the clock. After a well played game by the Tigers, the final score was Tigers 21, Jefferson 7.

Hunter Gay who is starting on the Tiger's offensive line was lined up against the D-1 prospect A.J. Harmon. Gay commented, "Harmon is a good player, but was just out matched in this game." The Tigers had a total of 91 rushing yards and 159 passing yards. The Tiger defense's hard work was proven when Jefferson County had only 75 yards rushing and 39 yards passing. This Friday night is homecoming for Swainsboro High and the Tigers will host Josey. Josey is a well rounded team, but has had some trouble with region opponents. Be sure to come out and support the Tigers.
