Eddie Roy Bell, 82

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Eddie Roy Bell, 82, was held Friday, Oct. 19, 2007 at 2 p.m. in Peebles- Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Wayne DeFore officiating. Burial was in Hall Cemetery. He died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007, at Community Hospice in Vidalia after an extended illness.

Mr. Bell was a native of Emanuel County, a World War II veteran serving in the Merchant Marines and retired after 42 years with Texaco, Inc. as senior chief engineer in the Marine Department. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World and the First United Methodist Church formerly Summertown Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Drew Clark Bell and Kate Hall Bell.

Survivors include a niece, Florine Bell Jones of Augusta; four nephews, Dalton Bell of Dublin; Fletcher Jones of Vidalia; Rodney Beckworth of Swainsboro; and Marion Beckworth of Louisville; special family friends, Nell Underwood, Lois Harper and JoAnn Joyner of Swainsboro.

Pallbearers were Chris Jones, Eva Nordine, Shaemus Nordine, Ronnie Turner, Timmy Beckworth,, Jerry Braddy, John Rountree and Greg Morris. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Midville Early Morning Coffee Club.
