Fourteen sentenced in Superior Court

Fourteen people were sentenced in Emanuel County Superior Court Oct. 16 and 17 by Middle Judicial Circuit Court Judges Robert S. Reeves and Kathy S. Palmer respectively.

Oct. 16

Shawn Lenard Mutch negotiated a plea of guilty on 2 counts of robbery and 1 count aggravated assault. He was sentenced to 20 years in the state penal system on each count to run concurrent with each other. Additionally, Mutch pled guilty to another count of robbery and was sentenced to another 20 years to run consecutively to any other sentence. Mutch received a total of 40 years.

Arthur Lee Williams negotiated a plea of guilty on counts 1-4, sale of cocaine; and counts 5-8, distribution of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a housing project. He was sentenced to five years probation.

Clyde Samuel Butler negotiated a plea of guilty on counts 1-3, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; count 4, DUI; count 5, improper U-turn; and count 6, open container. He received five years probation each on counts 1 and 2 concurrent with each other; five years consecutive to counts 1 and 2; and 12 months on count 5, concurrent with count 3. He must pay $1,500 fine in 30 equal monthly installments.

Brian Antonio Coleman negotiated a plea of guilty on 1 count of obstruction of an officer. He received five years probation, $1,500 fine and is subject to the Probation Detention Center.

Michael Eugene Hatley negotiated a plea of guilty on 1 count of possession of methamphetamine. He received five years probation, $1,500 fine, is subject to special drug conditions and restrictions and 40 hours community service.

Taniesha Nicole Coleman negotiated a plea of guilty on count 1, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute; and count 3, possession of marijuana. She was not prosecuted on count 2, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. She was given five years intensive probation supervision on count 1; and 12 months on count 3 concurrent with count 1. She is subject to special drug conditions and restrictions and was remanded to custody of the PDC for not less than 120 days nor more than 180 days.

Robert Hardeman negotiated a plea of guilty on count 1, possession of cocaine; count 2, open container; and was not prosecuted on possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a knife during commission of a crime. He received five years probation on count 1; 12 months on count 2, concurrent to count 1. He must pay a $1,500 fine in 30 equal monthly installments, is subject to special drug conditions and restrictions and must perform 40 hours of community service.

Jamie O'Bryant Walker negotiated a plea of guilty on count 1, possession of cocaine; and count 2, possession of marijuana. He received five years probation on count 1; and 12 months on count 2 concurrent to count 1. He must pay $1,500 fine in 30 equal monthly installments.

Gregory Young a.k.a. Gregory Jackson negotiated a plea of guilty on count 1, burglary. He was given 10 years probation and credit for time served since June 14, 2007. He must pay $17,255 in restitution in 96 equal monthly installments and is subject to Intensive Probation Supervision.

Tyson Lynn Hackett negotiated a plea of guilty on count 1, theft by taking (felony); and count 2, theft by taking (misdemeanor). He received five years probation on count 1; and 12 months on count 2, concurrent to count 1. He must pay $1,840 in restitution in 30 equal monthly installments.

McKennis (Kenny) Ricks negotiated a plea of guilty on count 1, burglary; and count 2, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He received five years probation on count 1; and five years on count 2, concurrent with count 1. He must pay $534.17 in restitution.

Oct. 17

Jermaine Eugene Kay negotiated a plea of guilty on count 1, aggravated assault; and was not prosecuted on count 2, giving false name. He received 10 years in the state penal system and was given credit for time served since Aug. 9, 2007.

Christopher Obearon Thomas negotiated a plea of guilty on count 1, burglary; and was not prosecuted on count 2, theft by receiving stolen property. He was sentenced to seven years in the state penal system concurrent to any other sentence serving and was given credit for time served since Sept. 5, 2007.

James Phillip Passmore negotiated a plea of guilty on count 1, fleeing and attempting to elude officer;count 2, DUI; count 3, suspended license; and count 7, no tag. He was not prosecuted on count 4, obstruction of officer; count 5, reckless driving; and count 6, no insurance. He received 12 months probation on count 1; 12 months on count 2; 12 months on count 3; and 12 months on count 7, all consecutive to each other and concurrent with any other sentence serving. He must pay a $2,875 fine. He also negotiated a plea of guilty on one count of theft by taking and was given five years Intensive Probation Supervision, must pay $965 in 30 equal monthly installments and is subject to special drug conditions and restrictions.
