Tigers unload on Westside, 47-14
By AGAN TANKERSLEY

SILVA TACKS ON THE EXTRA POINT
For a moment the Tigers played a close game with the Westside Patriots. Then the Tigers' offense stepped up and said, "It's time to play ball."

For the past few weeks the Tigers' defense has been carrying the Tigers to victory. In the past two games the Tiger's offense have scored a total of 14 points and 7 of the 14 were scored by the defense. "This past week we had a great practice the whole week," said Head Coach Shane Williamson. This past Friday night was a key game for the Tigers offense.

Not long into the first quarter is when it all stated. Rashdad James passed to Javec King for a 51 yard touchdown pass. Pablo Silva's extra point was good and the Tigers' offense was starting to roll. Westside fumbled on their first possession. James took advantage of the mistake and passed to King again for a 48 yard touchdown. Extra point was good. Westside made a impressive drive to put 7 points on the board. Leaving the first quarter the score was SHS 14, Westside 7.

It would be Malcolm Eady to score first in the second quarter. Eady broke a 30 yard touchdown run, E.P was no good. James took the snap and again passed to King for a 53 yard touchdown, 2-point conversion no good. Kawaskie Coleman has been on the injury list, until now. Coleman broke a 41 yard touchdown run on his first play in, E.P. was good. Going into half-time the score was Tigers 33, Westside 7.

At the start of the second half, the Tigers fumbled the ball. Westside capitalized on the mistake, and just that quickly, they were back in the game--or so they thought. Next drive, James set up and once again found King for a 58 yard touchdown pass, E.P. good. Before the end of the third James fumbled on the goal line but made up for it by recovering and scoring, E.P. was good.

Coach Williamson decided the score was high enough and let the clock run down in the fourth quarter. Final score was Tigers 47, Westside 14.

The test is here for the Tigers. This Friday night the Tigers will host Jefferson County. Jefferson has the momentum due to the win over the Tigers last year. But after the win against Westside, the Tigers' offense is ready to put points on the board and the defense has been improving every game. If there is a game to come see, this is it.

The SHS FBLA is calling out all Tiger fans. This Friday at 6 o'clock there will be a Tiger Tailgating at the school. They are also asking all Tiger fans to wear all black for a "Stadium Blackout." Everyone knows this game is big, so don't miss it!
