Tech to host Mitchell Field dedication

Larry Calhoun, president of Swainsboro Technical College (STC), has announced a dedication ceremony of a sculpture to commemorate Mitchell Field at STC. The dedication will be held on the lawn of the Larry J. "Butch" Parrish Technology Center on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 3:30 p.m.

The Sculpture was crafted by Alumni Michael Crumpler, who graduated from STC's welding program. Swainsboro High School Tigers (SHS) played all their home games on Mitchell Field from 1940 until 1995. A Special invitation is extended to all former players, coaches, cheerleaders and the community for the dedication and unveiling of the special sculpture. The SHS Band will provide special music and the SHS Cheerleaders will perform. Hotdogs, popcorn, and drinks will be provided after the ceremony.
