ECI Bulldogs clips Eagles' wings, 28-0
ECI kicked-off the ball and the game was started. The Eagles began moving the ball down the field. ECI knew they had to get the ball and that is just what they did. Wes Wommack made an interception right when the Bulldogs needed it. The ECI players then tried hard to get a touchdown but when they closed in on the end-zone the Eagles were waiting. Jenkins County caused the Bulldogs to fumble and they recovered the ball. The Eagles slowly moved the ball down the field as time started running out in the quarter. Jenkins County then found themselves in need to punt the ball and ECI took advantage of it. The ECI guys quickly moved the ball down to their endzone. Washaun Ealey made an impressive run for a touchdown but was stopped a half-yard from the end-zone. The ECI quarterback, Micheal Robertson depended strongly on his offensive line as he ran the ball in for the touchdown. 6-0, Bulldogs take the lead and the quarter was over. The second quarter started and it played out much like the first. It was a battle between each team. The ball was passed to Washaun Ealey, who gracefully made his way around the Eagle defense and into the end-zone. The Bulldogs now had a 12-0 lead. Third quarter began and the Bulldogs wanted to make some more noise. Eagles were giving it their all and ECI found it difficult to compete, they would have to step up their game. Each team was delivering powerful blows. The ball was then found in the hands of the Bulldogs once again. The quarter had just a few minutes left and ECI knew if the game continued as it had, this might be their only chance to score this quarter. Remond Sanford caught a pass thrown by Robertson and he ran like the wind towards the end-zone. With Sanford's touchdown, ECI decided to go for the twopoint conversion. It was Washaun Ealey who then went across the line and the score was changed to 20-0. The fourth quarter started, the last chance for the Eagles to catch the Bulldogs. Jenkins had a great deal of determination and heart and the Bulldogs knew they had to be careful. As expected the Eagles kept fighting hard. ECI however did not wait to the end of this quarter to do something and with less than two minutes of play time over, Micheal Robertson ran the ball into the end-zone. Again Washaun Ealey managed to get the two points and the score was 28-0. The rest of the game was a constant struggle for procession of the ball. Again, neither team could seem to keep for very long. Each coming close, very close to scoring but finding at the time that the others were too determined to let anything else happen. This game was over and that was that. Our Bulldogs are still giving it their all and will continue to do so. Do not forget to support them, ECI fans. Keep coming out and cheering the boys on. This Friday they will travel to face Calvary Baptist at 7:30. Hope to see you there.
