Tigers come close, but not close enough
BY AGAN TANKERSLEY

ROOSEVELT WILLIAMS STOPS THE RUN UP THE MIDDLE
No one knew that a first quarter field goal would cause a loss for the Tigers. The Tigers matched up against 3-0 Laney in Augusta for a 3- AAregion showdown.

The first quarter was an offensive battle when both teams were trying to get past the red-zone and across the goal line. Laney was the first to put points on the board with a 33 yard field goal. Before the first quarter ended, the Tigers had a shot at a field goal. Pablo Silva kicked the ball, but it was too far left.

The rest of the game was a defensive battle. Each team would drive down the field, but neither could capitalize. The final score left on the board after four quarters of football was SHS 0, Laney 3.

The Tigers suffered a hard loss, but it should not effect them severely. The Tigers have some challenging games coming soon, but should be able to finish the season without too many losses, if not any. Laney is a good team, but the region title is still up for grabs. The Tigers travel to Vidalia this Friday night for another region game. Be sure to come and support the Tigers, because there is still a good chance that the region title could go towards the Tigers.
