Mack Portwood, 75 MURRELLS INLET, S.C.--Funeral for Mack Portwood, 75, will be held Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Tomlinson Funeral Home with Rev. Louis Pearce officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. He died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007 at Medical University of South Carolina. Mr. Portwood was formerly from Swainsboro and had lived in South Carolina for the past 10 years. He was retired from J&M Transportation and Coastal Sun Way Tours. He was a member of Hawhammock Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Dell Portwood. Survivors include his wife, Vivian Newsome Portwood of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; two sons, Richard Portwood of Midville; and Dennis Portwood of Milledgeville; three daughters, Madeline Portwood of Midville; Madell Peavey of Swainsboro; and Wanda Childress of Dublin; a stepdaughter, Marilyn Newsome of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a stepson, William Newsome of Hartsville, S.C.; a sister, Eileen Provost of Waynesboro; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, PO Box 96280, Washington, D.C. 20077. Tomlinson Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
