Emanuel County Institute starts off season with a bang!
BY BRENT FREEMAN

This past Friday night the ECI Bulldogs traveled to Metter for their first region game of the season. Rain threatened to slow the Bulldogs down, but it seemed nothing was going to stop these boys. Coach Milan Turner said, "They faced adversities and they still did great. They did a wonderful job." The Twin City boys certainly did a great job, they beat the Tigers 45-0.

The game started and the Twin City fans were worried when the Bulldogs could not seem to stop the on-coming Tigers. Once the Bulldogs got started, however, they hit the Tigers hard. Washaun Ealey quickly obtained the ball and without warning he scored the first touchdown for the night. He then followed that up with a two point conversion. This put the score at 7-0 and the game was on. The Tigers fought hard and even gave the Bulldogs cause to be a little concerned. This worry did not last long and once the Bulldogs had possession of the ball again they showed why they are number one. Micheal Roberton, the ECI quarterback, passed the ball back to Ealey and he was off. Ealey ran down the field dodging the Tiger defense and he made into the endzone for the next touchdown. Will Henson then kicked an extra point for ECI and the score was now 15-0.

The second was now underway and the Bulldog defensive line did a great job holding off the Tigers. It was not long before the Bulldogs had the ball and they knew just what to do with it. With almost 9:30 left in the game, Robertson passed the ball to Washaun Ealey, who then ran an impressive 51 yard touchdown. Once again he ran in the two point conversion for a 23-0 lead. The offensive and defensive lines showed they meant business with some very aggressive plays. The Bulldogs then focused that aggression and managed to get yet another touchdown. It was Wes Wommack that caught the pass from Robertson to make the touchdown. Now the game was at 29-0.

The Bulldogs stood strong against the Tigers, who was obviously was scared of the proceeding Bulldogs, made an illegal kick that resulted in a safety. This pushed the score up to 31-0. The second quarter was coming to a quick end and as the Tigers prepared for a break at half-time, the Twin City boys were preparing for one more great play. With 17 seconds left on the clock Micheal Robertson made a daring pass to Lacollie Gordon. Touchdown! The Bulldogs made yet another just before time ran out. Will Henson then followed it up with a good kick and the game went to half-time with a score of 38-0.

The second half was not quite as exciting as the first but it was just as impressive. The Bulldogs quickly scored their final touchdown as Ealey made it again into the end-zone. Henson was on fire and he kicked one last point to put the score at 45-0. Twin City JV boys played the rest of the game and the Tigers were still no match. The Bulldogs did not score but they did hold back boys that were clearly older than them. All around the Bulldogs can handle anything.

The Bulldogs are ready for anything. Any and all teams better be prepared, the Bulldogs are on the prowl and they intend on winning. Be sure to keep supporting them as they fight to the top. This Friday night they will in Twin City against Treutlen County at 7:30.
