Tigers smash the Smashers
The Tigers came out throwing the ball just like they did in the scrimmage against East Laurens. The first touchdown of the night came when Rashad James hit Malcolm Eady with a 19- yard pass. Pablo Silva tacked on the extra point putting the Tigers up by seven. The first quarter was coming to a close when the Atom Smashers threw a 75 yard touchdown pass. The extra point was good and we now had a tied ball game going into the second quarter. Noah Pierce was the first to score in the new quarter. James had thrown a lateral pass and it was dropped. Pierce not only recovered, but made his way into the end zone. Silva hit the extra point and the Tigers were now up 14-7. James was trying to make a play when he got hurt. It was only a minor stress on the knee, but the Tigers took no chances and let Eady in the quarterback spot. Not long after playing in his new position, Eady scored with a quarterback keeper. E.P. was good and the Tigers are winning 21-7. The clock was running down to half-time, but Eady decided to try out his arm. Eady made a 25 yard touchdown pass to Pierce with only minutes left in the quarter. The extra point was good and the Tigers were winning 28-7 going into the half. Eady decided to start things off in the third quarter by scoring with another quarterback keeper. E.P.. was good and the score was now Tigers, 35 and Johnson, 7. Kawaskie Coleman wanted to change things up by driving a touchdown in on the ground. Coleman then ran in a six yard touchdown. The score was now 42 to 7, Tigers. The mercy rule took effect in the fourth quarter because the Tigers were leading by 30 points, so the clock ran continuously. Before the game was over, Eady had to get in the touchdown zone one more time. Eady broke a 20 yard run to score the last touchdown of the night. After everything was said and done, the Tigers made their way back to the 'boro with a victory of 48 to 7. "We played sloppy the first half but we did a lot better in the second. We have two weeks to fix some things and get better," said Coach Shane Williamson. The Tigers had a total of 227 rushing yards and 204 passing yards. The Tiger defense held Johnson at 14 yards rushing and 89 yards on passing. Overall, the Tigers had a good night.
