James David Dryden Sr., 81 SWAINSBORO--Funeral for James David Dryden, 81, will be held Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Vaughn-Guynn Funeral Home in Galax, Va. Burial will be at Fairview Baptist Church in Galax. He died Monday, Aug. 27, 2007 at Heritage Healthcare in Swainsboro. Mr. Dryden was born in Madison County, Fla. and was a former resident of Galax, Va. He had lived in Swainsboro for only a short time. He was owner of Dryden Sod and Landscaping in W. Palm Beach, Fla., before his retirement. He was a member and deacon of Fairview Baptist Church in Galax. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. James F. and Mary Elizabeth Phillips Dryden; his wives, Marry Pulliam Dryden and Annie Creed Dryden; a son, Raymond Dryden; four brothers, Quinton, Burton, Bennie and Johnny Dryden; and two sisters, Ola Phillips and Lola Mae Sandefur. Survivors include three sons, James David Dryden Jr. (Judy) and Gene Dryden (Linda) of W. Palm Beach, Fla.; and Richard Dryden (Brenda) of St. Augustine, Fla.; a daughter, Dalene Sanders of Gulf Port, Miss.; a brother, Louie Dryden (Frances) of Swainsboro; a sister, Arminta "Mit" Raines of Lee, Fla.; 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and four sisters-inlaw. Pallbearers will be members of Fairview Baptist Church. Tomlinson Funeral Home had charge of local arrangements.
